Product Description

1. Location & Sunlight
Full Sunlight: Guava trees thrive in full sunlight, so ensure that your plant gets 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day.

Space: Choose a location with enough space for the tree to spread out. Guava trees can grow large, so they should be planted in an area with good air circulation.

2. Soil Requirements
Well-drained Soil: Guavas prefer slightly acidic to neutral soil with a pH range of 5.5-7.0.

Loamy Soil: Opt for well-draining, loamy soil rich in organic matter. Sandy soils with good drainage are ideal.

Soil Drainage: Ensure the soil doesn't remain waterlogged as this can cause root rot.

3. Watering
Regular Watering: Water your guava plant regularly but allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Deep watering is ideal to encourage deep root growth.

Avoid Overwatering: Ensure that the plant doesn’t sit in water as it could lead to root rot or fungal diseases.

4. Fertilization
Nutrient-Rich Fertilizer: Use a balanced fertilizer, particularly one with a good amount of phosphorus, potassium, and micronutrients, for healthy growth and fruiting.

Organic Fertilizer: You can also use compost or well-rotted manure to provide organic nutrients.

Frequency: Fertilize your Surkha guava plant every 3-4 months during the growing season (spring and summer).

5. Pruning
Prune Regularly: Pruning helps maintain the shape of the tree and promotes better airflow and sunlight penetration. Cut back any dead, damaged, or crossed branches.

Encourage Branch Growth: Trim the top of the tree to encourage lateral growth, which will result in a more productive tree.

6. Temperature & Humidity
Tropical/Temperate Climate: Guavas thrive in tropical and subtropical climates. They can tolerate short periods of frost but are sensitive to freezing temperatures.

Humidity: Guava plants prefer a humid environment, so if you live in a dry area, consider misting the plant regularly or using a humidity tray.

7. Pest and Disease Management
Common Pests: Look out for common pests such as aphids, whiteflies, and fruit flies. Neem oil or insecticidal soap can be effective in treating pests.

Fungal Diseases: Guava trees can sometimes suffer from fungal diseases like powdery mildew or anthracnose. Avoid overhead watering to reduce fungal growth and ensure good airflow around the plant.

Preventive Measures: Regularly inspect your plant for signs of pests and diseases and address them promptly.

8. Pollination
Self-Pollinating: Surkha guava trees are generally self-pollinating, meaning they do not require another guava plant nearby for fruit production, but having multiple plants can increase fruit yield.

9. Harvesting
When to Harvest: Surkha guavas are usually ready for harvest 4-6 months after flowering. The fruit will change color from green to yellow when ripe.

Gentle Harvesting: Pick the fruit gently to avoid damaging the plant or the fruit itself.

10. Repotting (If Growing in a Pot)
If you're growing your Surkha guava in a pot, repot it every 1-2 years or when the roots outgrow the pot. Make sure the new pot has good drainage and use a mix of loamy soil.
