Product Description
Sunlight: Guavas love bright, direct sunlight. Aim for at least 6-8 hours a day, preferably in a sunny spot like a south or west-facing window if growing indoors.
Temperature: Guavas prefer warm temperatures, ideally between 75°F and 95°F (24°C to 35°C). They can tolerate some heat but aren’t frost-hardy. If you’re in a colder climate, bring it inside when the weather cools down.
Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry. Be cautious not to let the plant sit in standing water, as this can lead to root rot.
Soil: Well-draining soil is crucial. Guavas prefer sandy, loamy soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. A mix designed for tropical plants usually works well.
Fertilizing: Feed your guava plant once a month during the growing season (spring to early fall) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. In winter, reduce feeding as the plant’s growth slows down.
Pruning: Prune your guava plant to remove any dead or damaged branches and to encourage a more compact, bushy growth. This helps with air circulation and light penetration, especially if you’re growing it indoors.
Humidity: Guavas like humidity, so if you’re growing them indoors, you might want to mist the plant occasionally or place it on a humidity tray to keep the air around it moist.
Pests: Keep an eye out for pests like aphids or whiteflies. Regularly inspect your plant and treat with organic insecticide if necessary.
Repotting: If your guava plant outgrows its pot, repot it into a slightly larger one every couple of years. Make sure the new pot has good drainage.
